Malayalam (മലയാളം) is a Dravidian language mostly spoken in the Indian state of Kerala by the Malayali people. Due to Malayali expatriates in the Persian Gulf, the language is also widely spoken in Gulf countries.
With the advent of unicode and other computer tools, it is now easy to write, read and even convert speech to text in Malayalam.
Malayalam Reading
Below is a paragraph written in Malayalam language and an image of the same text (inside red box) as it would appear in a computer with a Malayalam Unicode font installed.
If both the above paragraphs look the same (especially complex letters), then you are all set to read Malayalam in your computer.
The above paragraph in Manglish:
ee aksharangaL krthyamaayi ningaLkku vaayikkaan patunnunTenkil athinte arththham malayaaLam ningaluTe kampyooTTaRil nalla reethiyil kONfigaR cheythittunT ennaaN~.
To read Malayalam charcters on a computer properly, you require a font that supports Malayalam Unicode. If you are using Window 7 or higher, it should come by default.
Otherwise, download a Malayalam Unicode font and install it or copy to Fonts folder in your computer.
